Good Things are Worth the Wait: The Bees Have Arrived

Bees May 20, 2026

🐝🐝 Something is buzzing at Bayview Acres! 🐝🐝

Last night, we officially welcomed two new honeybee colonies to the farm. It was a quiet, late-evening task to get our two new "nucs" settled into their coastal home overlooking St. Mary's Bay. Trisha was all suited up to ensure a smooth, calm transition as they moved into their new hives.

While we are already dreaming of jars filled with raw honey, we are practicing a bit of "farm patience." For this first season, we will not be harvesting a single drop of honey.

Putting the Hive First

At Bayview Acres, our regenerative philosophy means the health of our animals and pollinators always comes first. We are leaving all the honey in the hives this year to ensure our bees have every resource they need to build strength, draw out their comb, and—most importantly—survive their first Nova Scotia winter.

Building a sustainable legacy takes time. We believe doing things the right way, rather than the fast way, is what sets our farm products apart.

What’s Next for the Bees?

  • The First Harvest: We are looking forward to our very first "Liquid Gold" honey harvest in Summer 2027. 🍯
  • Pollination Power: In the meantime, these busy bees will be hard at work pollinating our pastures and the local Belliveau Cove flora, supporting the entire ecosystem of our farm.
  • Education: We’ll be sharing updates on the hives throughout the season so you can follow along with their progress and see how your future honey is being made.

We know it’s a long lead time, but we promise this raw honey will be well worth the wait. In the meantime, keep an eye out for our other seasonal updates—our first flocks of Rustic Rangers are already enjoying the fresh grass!

Stay tuned for more updates from the hives!
