New Beginnings: Flock 2 Has Arrived at Bayview Acres
The brooder is warm, the bedding is fresh, and the farm is echoing with the rhythmic "cheep-cheep" of our newest arrivals. After a long journey and a few unexpected travel delays, our second flock of Rustic Ranger chicks has officially touched down here in Belliveau Cove.
From Transit to Tranquility
Raising heritage poultry means respecting the journey. These chicks had a bit of a marathon flight to get to us, but they are now safely tucked into the brooder here at Bayview Acres.
Within minutes of arriving, they were already demonstrating why we love this breed—their natural vigor is unmatched. They are busy exploring their new home, finding the waterers, and settling in under the heat lamps. This "brooder phase" is critical for developing the hardiness they’ll need once they graduate to the salt-tinged pastures of St. Mary’s Bay later this summer.

Why Flock 2 Matters
This group represents the second of our three planned poultry harvests for the 2026 season. By staggering our flocks, we ensure that our customers have access to fresh, pasture-raised Legacy Cuts throughout the summer and fall.
Our Rustic Rangers are raised differently than commodity birds:
- Heritage Genetics: Slower growth (12-14 weeks) leads to superior flavor and firm, succulent meat.
- Health First: These birds are bred for outdoor life and natural foraging.
- Local Focus: Raised right here in Belliveau Cove with views of the coast.
Reserve Your Spot for August
Our July harvest is already seeing high demand, and Flock 2 (ready in August) will be no different. Because we limit our production to just 100 birds per flock to ensure the highest quality and animal welfare standards, they tend to go fast.
How to get on the August Contact List:
- Message Us: Send us a direct message on Facebook to be added to our "First Call" list.
- Newsletter Signup: Register for our email updates below. Our subscribers always get the first link to the order forms before they are shared publicly.
We are so happy to have these new lives on the farm. Stay tuned for more updates as they grow!
